Jamie, aged 20, is one of 40 volunteers sleeping rough in Cwmbran tomorrow night to raise money to buy things like cutlery, pots and pans for young people in Torfaen moving into a home for the first time.

Click on the audiobook below to hear Jamie talk about why they are holding this event in the car park of Bron Afon Community Housing.

Jamie’s fellow members of the Bron Afon Youth Forum, along with the Neon Youth Club, Hales House, and staff from Bron Afon, Rhondda Cynon Taff Homes, and the Chartered Institute of Housing Cymru will raise awareness of the issues facing homeless young people.

Tom Fullick, chair, Afon Youth, said: “The sleep out is something we have been planning for a while.  We are hoping to raise money for Bron Afon’s, ‘Own Two Feet’ project, which aims to support homeless young people into independent living.”

Anyone interested in making a donation should call Maria Jones or Helen Clutterbuck on Freephone 0800 111 42 42 or 01633 620 111.

You can also donate to the event in a bank or online. The ‘Afon Youth’ sort code is 40 18 36 and the account number is 81597205.
